Peritoneal Dialysis
Peritoneal Dialysis
Peritoneal dialysis is an alternative to hemodialysis, where the patient's peritoneal cavity is used as a natural filter. A cleansing fluid (dialysate) is introduced into the abdomen through a catheter, allowing waste products and excess fluids to pass through the peritoneal membrane. The fluid is then drained, removing toxins from the body. Peritoneal dialysis can be performed at home or in a healthcare facility.
